Compare folders: batch comparison of many documents in one run

The batch comparison takes two folders, say the drafts of April and the final versions of May, forms the pairs itself, presents them for confirmation and then compares pair by pair. The result is an overview with one row per pair and a link to each individual report.

How the pairs are formed

The files of both folders are matched by their names. Where files remain whose names are at least loosely similar, the wording decides whether they form a pair; such pairs are marked with both values. The matching is a presumption and is therefore always presented for confirmation before the run. The user checks it; the program does not relieve him of that check.

The result

For each pair a complete individual report is produced, either as Word with tracked changes or as a comparison PDF, each with the checksums of both files. In addition an overview workbook with one row per pair, the key figures and a link that leads into the individual report. One batch run counts as one comparison, however many pairs it contains.

Limits

The batch comparison does not read subfolders; the files of the two specified folders themselves are compared. It is part of the free version; one run counts as one comparison. Several versions of the same document in one folder are a case for the version comparison.

How do I compare many documents at once?

Place the folder with the original versions in the left field and the folder with the revised versions in the right field. CompareDesk recognises the mode itself, forms the pairs and presents them for confirmation.

What happens to files without a counterpart?

They remain unmatched and are listed as such in the overview. Nothing is silently passed over.

Can I automate the batch comparison?

Yes. The batch comparison can also be run from the command line, optionally with machine-readable JSON output.
