Compare two Word documents and see every change
You have received a revised draft and need to know what changed. CompareDesk holds both versions against each other word by word and produces a Word file with genuine tracked changes that you can work on straight away.
In three steps
- Drop the original and the revised version into the two fields. Both files are left untouched.
- Choose "Word with tracked changes" as the output format.
- Compare. The result opens in Word; every insertion, deletion and move is marked and can be accepted or rejected.
What you get
A genuine Word file with tracked changes, not an image and not a two-column juxtaposition. Numbering, indentation, fonts and tables remain as they are in the original.
Together with a schedule of differences stating the type and location of every change, which serves as a record in its own right, and the self-check: CompareDesk recovers both source versions from the comparison file it produced and holds them against the originals. You do not have to take that record on trust; it is computed.
If one of the documents already contains tracked changes, you choose whether the comparison starts from the changed or from the unchanged version.
What the comparison does not do
The comparison works at text level. Pure formatting differences are reported only to the extent described in the user guide, and the result does not replace review by a qualified person acting on their own responsibility. It shortens that review considerably.
Try it on your own contracts
CompareDesk runs solely on your own computer. The documents are not uploaded and are not transmitted to any server. Twenty-five full comparisons are available without signing up.
